Yes, Salt can be good for snake plants. But not that kind of salt. which you and I use daily basis for cooking and eating.
There is one type of salt that is good for our snake plant.
We will speak all about that in this blog.
Firstly, one question comes to our mind.
Why is normal salt not good for snake plants?
There are many toxic effects on plants.
Let’s talk about some of them.
Water Absorption
Basically, common salt contains sodium. Which is toxic to our plant.
Why!
Because sodium absorb water molecule from soil. Which make difficult for plant roots to absorb water. Over the time, plant drying up due to dehydration.
Damage Soil Structure
Salt can reduce soil quality. It compact the soil and make it less porous. Which affects root development & water draining.
Leaf Damage
Sodium and chloride ions can burn your plant leaves. Accidentally, when you add salt to your snake plant. It may causing leaf burn, yellowing, stunted growth and overall stress.
This is about normal salt.
Now,
What kind of salt is actually good for snake plants?
The name of the salt is Epsom salt. Also known as magnesium sulfate. This salt is beneficial for snake plant, if you use it in the correct dose and method.
Don’t worry.
I will tell you the right dose and way here.
How to use it correctly :
The right way is – take 1-2 tablespoons of Epsom salt. Then add it around 3 to 4 liters of water and mix well.
Now,
Spray it lightly.
Apply it once time in a month.
This salt, especially use when your plant is suffering magnesium deficiency.
Because epsom salt provides sufficient magnesium to the plant.
Even, it also supports photosynthesis and keeps the plant overall healthy.
A quick note
There is some debate about ‘ gardening with Epsom salt’.
So, my recommendation is-
Don’t blindly trust anything.
Start it with a small test. So that, you make sure that it suits your plant or not!
Thank you with us.
Stay well and healthy.
